Legacy Giving: Bequests: Making a provision for the NH Children’s Trust in your will or trust is a meaningful way to make an investment in the future of New Hampshire children. A bequest can be a gift of cash, securities, or another specified asset. Through this final gift, you will be making an investment to strengthen families and communities throughout the Granite State.  Retirement Accounts or Life Insurance: Naming NH Children's Trust as a beneficiary of life insurance or a 401 (K), pension, IRA, or other retirement account is a simple way to provide a steady source of supports to families throughout NH.   Tax Wise Giving: Charitable IRA Distribution: If you are 70 1/2 or older, you and your spouse can each direct up to $100,000 from your IRA to charity, without paying federal income tax on withdrawal. This gift option provides tax savings to donors even if they do not itemize deductions. If you wish to direct a gift to NH Children's Trust, please contact your IRA plan administrator and request a direct qualified charitable distribution from your IRA account to NH Children's Trust, a 501 (c)3 organization. Gifts of Stock: Giving appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares can be a tax-advantaged way to provide immediate support to NH Children's Trust.  By giving NH Children's Trust appreciated securities that you’ve held for more than a year, you may receive a double tax benefit: You avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation that would be due upon sale;  You can receive a charitable income tax deduction for the current fair market value of the property—up to 30 percent of adjusted gross income;  You can carry forward any unclaimed portion of the deduction for up to five additional years, subject to the annual limit.   We encourage you to talk to your tax or financial advisor to better understand the implications of such a gift on your individual tax situation.
