Congratulations to Terri, our 10th annual Lucy Fowlkes Breed Award Recipient!

The New Hampshire Children’s Trust is thrilled to announce Terri Clyde of Merrimack as the 10th annual Lucy Fowlkes Breed Family Service Volunteer Award winner. Terri has spent over 15 years as a volunteer at the Nashua Adult Learning Center and their Early Childhood Adventures Program (ECAP).

As one of the original members of the ECAP “Family Connections” Engagement and Support Group, Terri became the Parent/Guardian/Volunteer Leader and remains in that role today. She is also a member of ECAP’s Parent Advisory Council and a valued resource for kinship caregivers who are navigating State systems.

A kinship caregiver herself, Terri and her husband adopted their grandson after learning he had several developmental delays and would require specialized care.

Also an active advocate, Terri works to highlight the lack of case management and medical care for children five and under once diagnosed with mental illness. Among other contributions, she produces wonderful brochures outlining the importance and promotion of the Strengthening Families Framework and the 5 Protective Factors.

"[She] is an angel among people and a genuine advocate for children and families in need of mental health supports and services.” —Jane Marquis, Nominator

Her nominator, Jane Marquis, Child Care Coordinator at the Nashua Adult Learning Center, says, “It would be difficult to put a price or a number of hours spent on the efforts that Terri put forth these past 15+ years. [She] is an angel among people and a genuine advocate for children and families in need of mental health supports and services.”

Terri embodies many of the same attributes as Lucy Fowlkes Breed, who was known for her incredible empathy for others and her ability to meet individuals “where they’re at” no matter the difficulty.

All of Terri’s commitments are volunteer positions and she is committed to attending, participating, and contributing to each organization from the perspective of a parent, grandparent, human service professional and the amazingly selfless, caring individual she truly is.

Congratulations, Terri, our 10th annual Lucy Fowlkes Breed Family Service Volunteer Award
