Each February we recognize the vital role parents and caregivers play in raising healthy, confident, and resilient children. Parent Leadership Month is a time to honor the everyday leaders who guide, nurture, and advocate for their families and communities. In recognition of this important work, Governor Kelly Ayotte issues an annual proclamation affirming New Hampshire’s commitment to supporting and uplifting parents as leaders.

At New Hampshire Children’s Trust, we are proud to celebrate Parent Leadership Month alongside our annual Unsung Hero Awards—an initiative that shines a light on extraordinary parents, caregivers, and guardians across the Granite State.

Parent Leadership Month, led nationally by the Children’s Trust Fund Alliance, highlights the importance of empowering parents as advocates, decision-makers, and community leaders. Strong families are built when parents have the confidence, resources, and support they need to guide their children toward success.

Parent leaders help shape policies, strengthen programs, and create positive environments where children can thrive. Their lived experiences and voices are essential in building systems that truly support families. By investing in parent leadership, we help create an “ecosystem of prevention” where families receive support before challenges arise.

Parent Leadership Month is a reminder that every parent has the power to make a difference. Whether through advocacy, mentoring, volunteering, or simply showing up for their children each day, parents are shaping the future of our communities.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Parent Leadership Month and our Unsung Hero Award recipients. Share their stories, thank the caregivers in your life, and help us continue building a stronger, safer New Hampshire for all children.

Together, we can honor parent leaders, and ensure every family has the opportunity to thrive.
