CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire Children’s Trust (NHCT) and General Federation of Women’s Clubs – New Hampshire co-hosted the Community Commitment to Family Well-Being Event on April 23, 2025, bringing together families, advocates, and community leaders in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. The event was supported by Representative Mary Jane Wallner, whose presence reflected a shared commitment across sectors to investing in the well-being of New Hampshire’s families and children. Together, the gathering underscored a belief at the heart of NHCT’s mission: when communities invest in families, children thrive.
More than 20 organizations joined NHCT, surrounded by Prevention Pinwheel Gardens, to offer resources, information, and direct connection to services that strengthen families across the Granite State. The gathering reflected the power of a collective approach to primary prevention — one grounded in the Strengthening Families framework and its five protective factors: parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and social and emotional competence of children.
“These pinwheels remind us that prevention is not only possible, but achievable when communities come together,” said Christina Lachance, President of New Hampshire Children’s Trust. “This year’s theme ‘Pinwheels of Possibilities’ challenges us to imagine and to build a future where preventing child abuse and neglect is not just an aspiration, but the norm. It calls on us to think differently, to not focus on only responding to harm, but by creating the conditions where all children and families can succeed from the start.”
The event brought together a broad cross-section of New Hampshire’s family-serving ecosystem, with representatives from healthcare, behavioral health, peer support, and Community Action Programs. Participating organizations included:
ABLE NH, AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire, Amoskeag Health, Archways – New Hampshire, Community Action Partnership – Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties, Concord Pediatrics, Easterseals New Hampshire, GFWC New Hampshire, The Granite YMCA, Lakes Region Community Services, NAMI New Hampshire, New Futures, New Hampshire Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Salem Family Resources, Thrive Survivor Support Center, The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, Waypoint, The Webster House, White Birch Center
NHCT and its partners remain committed to building a New Hampshire where every child grows up safe, nurtured, and supported, and where families have access to the connections and resources they need to thrive.
